A Message from the Director...

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone had a great week!  The MixedBag Design Fundraiser ended on Friday.  We will still take last minute orders on Monday morning, but no later.  Please be advised that Thursday, March 23rd is a Professional Day for teachers and there will be no school for students.  Also mark your calendars for Thursday, March 30th as the the JMW Student Council hosts the annual Lip Sync Competition in the Cafeteria at 6:00pm.  It will be a fun night!

On Friday, I had an assembly with the entire student body and staff to review student behavior expectations as well as roll out the new social suspension program.  Each student was given a copy to be signed by a parent and the student and returned to school this week.  Issues discussed in the assembly were:

  • Start of School and Dismissal Times:  Tardiness is a major issue.  The school day starts at 7:50am. Too many students are tardy resulting in lost learning time.  In addition, the school day ends at 2:20pm.  Students are expected to leave the building right after school.  They cannot be unsupervised!!

  • Use of Electronic Devices:  Cell phones, ear buds and headphones are to be out of site and out of mind.  The only time these devices are to be visible are before school, during lunch or after school. They may also be used in class, at a teacher's discretion, for educational purposes.

  • Dress Code:  Hats are not to be worn in school.  Also, as the summer weather approaches, students must adhere to the district dress code.

  • Food and Beverage Consumption:  Students are not allowed to order out and have food delivered to the school.  In addition, parents should not bring in food from local restaurants for their child.  Iced coffee, hot coffee, hot chocolate, soda, juice and opaque water bottles are not allowed in class.  Only water and clear water bottles are allowed in the classroom.

  • Passes:  Students must sign in and out of class when leaving the room.  In addition, they need a pass from their teacher to be outside of the classroom.

  • Absenteeism:  When a student is absent or comes late to school.  It is their responsibility to reach out to that teacher for missed work...Immediately.  They should not wait until the next time they see the teacher.  Send an email or make a special trip to their room to get missed work.

  • Overdue Balances:  Students must pay their balances as soon as possible.  Overdue lunch balances, lost books/locks, lesson fees, etc.  must all be paid before the school year closes out.

  • Social Suspension Program:  Please ask your child for a copy of the program, sign and return to school.

Until Next Week,

Ricardo Pimentel, JMW Director
