A Message from the Director...

Hello Everyone,

It was another great week at JMW!  First and foremost, I would like to congratulate, JMW Junior and Dance Major, Aliyah Moore, on being crowned the new Miss Rhode Island Teen USA on Sunday.  We are very proud of her accomplishments and look forward to her reign as Miss RI Teen USA.  In May, Aliyah will go on to compete for the title of Miss Teen USA.  We wish her the best of luck.

On Saturday, JMW hosted the first annual FAMILY ARTS DAY.  The event was a huge success, uniting the community through the ARTS.  Be sure to see the video of our event by clicking on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSDCQuLHMZI&t=42s

Keri King, a wheat paste artist, installed some of her work at Family Arts Day.  She came to JMW this week and collaborated with our Art students on creating the pieces.  The mural is on display at the front entrance of Jenks/JMW.  Please stop by and check it out.

JMW will be starting some clubs this week and next.  The Knights in Shining IMPROV will start this Thursday, with auditions after school.  We are also proud to announce that JMW will have a GAY-STRAIGHT ALIANCE (GSA).  The first meeting will be on Wednesday, September 27th.  Special thanks to Ms. Carpenter for running IMPROV and Mrs. Muro for running GSA.

Student Council will also start up this week.  Each student thinking of running will need to write a short letter of intent/speech that will be given to his/her Advisory Teacher prior to lunch on Tuesday.  During Advisory on Wednesday, each class will vote for 4 Representatives for each class.  The top four from each class will be joining Student Council.  Best of luck to each student running and special thanks to Mrs. Ciano and Mrs. Ferreira for being Student Council Advisors.

Finally, please mark your calendars for our Meet & Greet Open House on Tuesday, September 26th from 6:00-8:00pm.  This will be your opportunity to meet with teachers and explore the curriculum and expectations.

Until Next Week,

R.Pimentel, JMW Director
