A Message from the Director...

Hello Everyone,

 

There are so many events to celebrate at JMW this week!  First and foremost I would like to thank the Cast and Crew of Seussical The Musical.  The talent was beyond amazing and crew & volunteers were worked arduously to ensure this production was a huge success!  Special Thanks to Michael Mercado, Jaliyah Johnson, India LaRue, Tighe Coykendall and the Friends of JMW PTO for running concessions.  A special shout out also goes out to to all of the actors, Mimi Scheff (Artistic Director), Patrick Dow (Musical Director), Cassie Menard (Stage Manager), John Cameron Baxter (Set), David Carney (Set Design), the Orchestra Members, Chris Kane (Fish Puppetry), Leigh Murphy & JMW Costume Club (Costumes) and the many un-named who helped with this production.  We are looking forward to next year when we bring West Side Story to JMW!

 

 

 

A special shout also goes out to three of our Juniors:  Alexander Pretorius, who was awarded the General Treasurer Young Leader Award; John Cameron Baxter and Mickenzie Aldridge who were awarded the Secretary of State Civic Leadership Award.  Congratulations to all three students on their accomplishments. 

 

 

A special congratulations also goes out to the Senior Theater Majors who completed their Senior Theater Projects this past Tuesday Night.  Congratulations to Hailey Millett, Alexis Brown, Sydney Bienstock, Kevin Martinez and Emiliano Ducas.

 

On Wednesday, May 23rd, the Senior Class will be having their Senior Breakfast with the JMW Director from 8:30-9:30am in the cafeteria.  

 

Also on Wednesday, Seniors must turn in their Chromebooks.  As of Monday, May 21st, Seniors who purchased insurance, must keep their Chromebooks at school.  Tuesday, May 22nd is the last day Seniors can use their Chromebooks.  On Wednesday, the IT Department will be at JMW to collect Chromebooks.

 

On Wednesday, May 23rd, Grade 11 students will also be taking the State Science Assessments.  These assessments will be in two-90 minute sections. 

 

Senior Final Exams will be on May 29th through June 1st:

May 29th:  Exams for Periods 1 and 2

May 30th:  Exams for Periods 5 and 6

May 31st:  Exams for Periods 3 and 4

June 1st:   Exams for Periods 7 & 8

 

Please take note of some upcoming events.  We have Honors Night on Tuesday, May 22nd at 6:00pm in the Auditorium.  Senior Dance Concert is on Friday, may 25th at 7:00pm in the Auditiorium.  Tickets are $3.00 for students and $5.00 for general admission. Spring Culmination is on Wednesday, May 31st at 7:00pm in the Auditorium.  Graduation is on June 7th at 6:00pm in the Auditorium.

The Application Deadline for the the 2018-2019 School Year has passed.  However, students are welcome to submit an application and an audition date will be set.  Students applying after the dealine date will more than likely be placed on a Wait-List.  

We are the only public arts high school in the state that accepts students by audition/portfolio only. Tuition is free for all Rhode Island Students who currently do not have a CTE program in their district.
